Starfix.HF

Fugro's Starfix.HF system uses single frequency code correction data from a single Fugro reference station, these are delivered on two frequencies in the 1.6 to 3.5 MHz band by long range HF transmitter stations. These corrections, with a single frequency GPS receiver are used to produce a position of high accuracy. The systems can provide a positional accuracy of better than 1.5 m (95%) horizontally at a distance of 500 km from the reference station.
The West African network, Middle East network, Brazil network and North Sea/Norwegian Sea network allow reception (in most of cases) of signals from several land base stations providing an independent system with additional redundancy. As the data is transmitted sequentially on two different frequencies, reception is more diverse, combating local interference or disturbances, giving even further redundancy. HF links, being independent of satellite communication improve the global reliability of the ship borne dual installations.

The minimum recommended equipment for Starfix.HF in Brazil, Middle East and the North Sea/Norwegian Sea area is:

• Single Frequency GPS Receiver and Antenna.
• Fugro Survey DeltaFix Demodulator and Antenna.
• PC with Fugro Position Computation and Quality Control Software (MultiFix 5 or Starfix.MRDGPS).

The minimum recommended equipment for Starfix.HF in the Guinea Gulf area is:

• Single Frequency NR103, NR203 or Sagitta Thales GPS Receiver and antenna (all with an integrated HF receiver)
• PC with Fugro MultiFix5 Position Computation and QC Software.
